Our Approach
Our approach to medical care offers something different to traditional medicine. We offer medicine that is personalized, health promoting, and minimally invasive. We take this approach because we believe these are the missing components in our modern medical system. When we decided to go to naturopathic medical school, we did so because we wanted to really help people with their health. Over the last 6 years we learned a lot about how to best do this, and we found just how unique our approach was. While we know that traditional medicine has many things to offer, we also know there is something really backwards about the system. Here are some facts that lead us to believe that our different approach is on the right track:
-
Health care costs in US are higher than in any other country.
Why is that? There are no doubt multiple reasons for this. We think the main reason is lack of personalization. When patients are treated like numbers rather than humans, cost actually go up. This is because even those that don't need certain tests get them. Moreover when you don't spend time to understand what is and is not bothering a person, some people don't get the tests they need or the wrong tests are ordered. This leads to missed diagnoses.
-
Did you know the average doctor spends 5-7 minutes with a patient?
We believe the relationship with your doctor is the foundation for whole person treatment. How many quality relationships have you formed in 5-7 minutes. A quality relationship cannot be formed in this amount of time. Without knowing the person, it makes it more difficult to clearly diagnose and treat the problem. This is especially true now in our society, when many health issues come from the overburden of stressful lives.
- The quality of care Americans receive is 37th in the World.
- Did you also know that the 3rd leading cause of death in the US is from the health care system?
With the above mentioned facts this last one may not be too surprising. We pay more and get less. Doesn’t make sense, does it? The problem is not the money, it is the quality and the actual care that is delivered. We believe that a whole person approach is the best option to help improve the quality, decrease costs, and increase the care delivered.
When you think about health care most of us think about doctors, nurses, and hospitals rather than health. We are not against our fellow health care practitioners and institutions but we do choose to focus more on health and care. It is our view that your health care should promote and support the health of your entire being. Over the last 6 years we have helped thousands of people using this unique approach. We are here to make a difference for your health too.
