Phoenix Weight Loss Tips

Phoenix weight loss tips are about a dime a dozen, take some fish oil, take some CLA, how about a little chromium. What is not unique about most of these tips, is the lack of scientific evidence to support their use. On the other hand some do have significant and mounting evidence to suggest their use. In this article we will look at some tips for weight loss, phoenix residence can count on to support their weight loss.

Pheonix weight loss tip #1: Vitamin D

phoenix weight lossA recent study out of the university of Wisconsin had some interesting findings with regard to vitamin D and weight loss. Vitamin D is most notable for its use in promoting healthy bone structure, so it is quite interesting in the context of weight loss. In this study they found that vitamin D status was a predictor of weight loss. For example, if you had a low vitamin D level at the start of your weight loss diet, you will be less likely to lose weight. In particular, these people who had higher vitamin d levels were more likely to reduce their fat in the abdominal area. This study is by no means conclusive, but there are more reasons to get your vitamin D levels up outside weight loss. So how does vitamin effect weight loss?

The researches seems to think that the same role vitamin D has in regulating blood pressure (through renin/angiotensin system), is also effecting metabolism. Having average or normal vitamin D levels bring the metabolism back into balance. The bottom line is, if you seem to be resistant to weight loss even with reduced calorie diet, have your vitamin D levels checked by a qualified integrative or naturopathic doctor

Phoenix weight loss tip #2: Chromium

Chromium has long been touted for its health promoting benefits for Diabetes, lipids, and weight loss. However, to date, chromium has not held up in research studies as helping any of these. To be clear, there has been some research supporting chromium use for these conditions, but it has been marginal at best. Chromium does play a critical role in insulin signaling which is important for metabolism, glucose, and lipid control. However most of the research shows that adding extra chromium as a supplement does not improve the insulin signaling and translate into improved, weight loss, glucose control, and lipids. So should you take extra chromium?

Brewer's yeast may be the next best thing as the research studies on this did have efficacy in improving glucose. Brewer's yeast actually has chromium in a form that is much closer to the insulin signaling molecule that our bodies need. Chromium itself is just a peice of the signaling molecule. We have found that adding a teaspoon or two to your meals daily, can improve glucose levels.

Phoenix weight loss tip # 3: Raspberry Ketones

Raspberry ketones are one of the latest phoenix weight loss crazes that you should know the facts on. Research backing up the use of this supplement for weight loss is lacking, but there is some preliminary evidence. A 2005 study found that rats fed high fat diets gained less weight when the diet included raspberry ketones than when they did not have raspberry keytones. That's great but rat studies very frequently don't translate into the same human outcomes.

A more recent study found that raspberry ketones helped activate adiponectin, which regulates fat breakdown. This is more promising since it gives a physiological reason for the use of raspberry ketone and paves the way for better human research. Adiponectin is a hormone that is secreted by adipose tissue (fat tissue). This weight loss hormone helps our bodies regulate glucose and breakdown fat. Low adiponectin levels is a predictor of developing blood sugar issues or diabetes. The hormone also helps increase fat breakdown.

The mechanism by which many weight loss aids are proposed to work, point to the what should be the focus in any weight loss program. That is, blood sugar regulation is a key aspect of weight loss. If you are struggling with weight loss, you should first seek to regulate your blood sugar. This is the core of any phoenix weight loss.

You may not have diabetes but if you have increased abdominal fat, you likely have poor glucose regulation to some degree or another. Using diet and exercise to regulate this should always be the first choices to do this. If this approach is not working after several months of trying, you may need a phoenix weight loss doctor to help enhance your weight loss. Hormone imbalances, hypothyroid, and the like can be contributing to your lack of weight loss.
